Saudi Megaproject: Enhancing Maritime Operations with Polyethylene Buoys
GISMAN and Ecobarrier Navigation Buoys at Saudi Megaproject

As part of a megaproject in Saudi Arabia (KSA), we’re proud to announce the successful installation of polyethylene navigation buoys. Our attendance at the Saudi Maritime & Logistics Congress this year will highlight the recent deployment of GISMAN Polyethylene Buoys GB-2600-ECO and Ecobarrier Navigation Buoys ENB-1500. These buoys are playing an important role in ensuring safe and efficient maritime traffic for the project.

GISMAN BUOYS: INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY IN MARITIME SIGNALING

In addition to ensuring safe and efficient maritime traffic, GISMAN GB-2600-ECO navigation buoys were recently adapted with hydrocarbon sensors and deployed in the Red Sea to detect oil spills (see photo below). This installation enhances environmental protection for the surrounding marine area.

These deployments mark a significant milestone in our partnership with GISMAN, which started in 2019 for navigation buoys with a diameter of 1800mm and above.

GISMAN, a leader in the design and manufacturing of modular plastic buoys since the 1990s, has established itself as a pioneer in the industry. The company is also the first industrial member of IALA – the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities. Their buoys are renowned for their modular design and versatility, allowing for easy repair, transport and adaptable use across different maritime projects.

Sustainability is at the core of GISMAN’s buoy designs. Made from fully recyclable polyethylene, these buoys are environmentally friendly. They eliminate the need for harmful anti-fouling paints, which helps protect marine ecosystems. Additionally, their low-maintenance design minimizes the environmental impact associated with maritime operations by reducing the frequency of sea outings for inspections.

Another key advantage of GISMAN’s polyethylene buoys is their lightweight construction. This significantly reduces the logistics and lifting equipment required for deployment and maintenance. This ease of handling translates into fewer personnel and nautical resources needed, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.

ECOCOAST BUOYS: PROVEN PERFORMANCE ACROSS VARIOUS APPLICATIONS

Complementing the GISMAN GB-2600-ECO buoys, our Ecobarrier Navigation Buoys ENB-1500 have been chosen for their proven reliability across various applications, including nearshore areas, waterways, ports and harbors with water depths of up to 30 meters. The selection of ENB-1500 buoys for this Saudi megaproject was driven by our commitment to local manufacturing, maintenance and services capabilities. This ensures that direct, on-the-ground expertise and support is given, maximizing operational efficiency and reliability.

The upgraded ENB-1500 buoys feature a two-piece or three-piece design (float and tower) with two lifting and mooring eyes, offering enhanced stability and adaptability. This design flexibility ensures that the buoys meet the highest standards of safety and performance, making them the ideal choice for maritime operations.

HIGHLIGHTING BUOYS INSTALLATION AT SAUDI MEGAPROJECT AT THE CONGRESS

As we exhibit at the Saudi Maritime & Logistics Congress, we’re excited to share the innovations and sustainable solutions driving the success of this megaproject. The deployment of GISMAN and Ecobarrier buoys highlights our commitment to advancing maritime safety and sustainability in the region. We look forward to continuing our partnership with GISMAN and showcasing the impactful solutions we bring to the maritime industry.
